St. Joseph’s Hospital Kitgum is a Private Not for Profit General Hospital located in Northern Uganda and affiliated to the Uganda Catholic Medical Bureau (UCMB).St. Joseph’s Hospital Kitgum is currently seeking to recruit a suitable, skillful, qualified applicant with integrity/good morals, strong analytical skills, God fearing, and a team player to fill the position of A Pharmacist

Responsibilities

Job Purpose:

The Pharmacist will serve as the technical lead for pharmaceutical services, overseeing hospital logistics related to general supplies, medicines, nursing, and medical supplies to ensure reliable, safe, and high-quality service delivery.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  1. Ensure good functioning of freezers, bio-safety cabinets as per manufacturer and/ or site SOPs

 

  1. Maintain temperature and/ or humidity monitoring data on digital display, panel-mounted circular chart temperature recorders and manual temperature checks.
  2. Maintain GCP/ICH and ethics training as required.
  3. Attending monthly meetings with the Pharmacist of Records to review pharmacy events during the past month, and staff meeting as may be required.
  4. Acquiring and maintenance of requisite licenses, registrations and certificates.
  5. Participate in QA/QC monthly/quarterly checks during enrolment and annual assessment of pharmacy performance and requirements
  6. Review and implement the mechanism of accounting for Products received, dispensed and returned in line with the Pharmaceutical guideline.
  7. Monitor the dispensing of pharmaceutical drugs and the provision of medication adherence counselling to patients or their care takers in line with Good Pharmacy Practice.
  8. Monitor the proper drug storage, accurate recording and account for all of products and other pharmacy ancillary supplies according to the manufacturers recommended conditions.
  9. To ensure that all IP storage units are locked when not in use.
  10. Implementation of the Pharmacy Quality Management plan including reviewing of prescriptions to detect for errors and monitor the correction of errors done by prescribers and dispensers in line with Good Clinical Practice principles.
  11. Review the calibration and validation of pharmacy equipment logs; monitor and update the temperature logs for proper storage of Investigational Medicinal Products.
  12. Conduct administrative and oversight responsibilities as stipulated in the Pharmacy guidelines.
  13. Conduct additional duties as may be delegated from time to time by your supervisor.
Qualifications
  1. Bachelor of Pharmacy from a recognized university; Post Graduate qualification in a health related field/Pharmaceutical Logistics management is an added advantage.
  2. Candidate must be registered with the Pharmaceutical Society of Uganda (PSU)
  3. Candidate must have at least 2 years of practical experience in Pharmaceutical services.
  4. Knowledge and experience in drug Logistics and supply chain management.
