Description

St. Joseph’s Hospital Kitgum is a Private Not for Profit General Hospital located in Northern Uganda and affiliated to the Uganda Catholic Medical Bureau (UCMB).St. Joseph’s Hospital Kitgum is currently seeking to recruit qualified, self-motivated persons to fill the position of a public health Dental Officer

Responsibilities
  1. Diagnose and treat dental conditions in patients at the health facility.
  2. Develop and implement community-based oral health programs.
  3. Conduct community outreach programs to promote oral hygiene awareness.
  4. Provide preventive and curative dental healthcare services.
  5. Conduct research on oral health issues and recommend strategies for improvement.
  6. Supervise and mentor junior dental staff and students on attachment. Guiding patients in proper dental hygiene.
  7. Arranging a patient's appointments.
  8. Removing sutures.
  9. Keeping records of dental treatments.
  10. Processing X-rays and performing lab tasks under the direction of a dental surgeon.
  11. Sterilizing dental equipment.
  12. Working with patients to make them comfortable in the dental chair and prepare them for procedures and treatments.
  13. Working with patients on payment and billing.
  14. Preparing the work area for patient's treatment by arranging equipment and materials.
  15. Spraying sealant applications over the teeth to prevent the development of cavities.
  16. Applying coronal polishing to eliminate soft deposits such as plaque, giving teeth a tidy look
  17. Applying fluoride straight onto the teeth to prevent cavity development
Qualifications
  1. A Minimum of a Diploma in Public Health Dentistry (Dental Hygiene) from a recognize institution.
  2. Must be a registered Dental Officer with a Valid practicing License from Medical and Dental Practitioners Council.
  3. At least two years’ experience in Hospital settings.
